L.A. Labor News exclusive interview with Cuban trade union leader Leonel Gonzalez Gonzalez
On Aug. 8, 2000, L.A. Labor News Editor Jim Smith interviewed Leonel Gonzalez Gonzalez, who was in Los Angeles for an unprecedented tour of the U.S. by a group of Cuban trade unionists.

Leonel Gonzalez Gonzalez is the International Secretary of the Confederation of Cuban Workers (CTC) - the AFL-CIO of Cuba. He is also a member of the CTC National Executive Secretariat; a Cuban delegate to the International Labor Organization (ILO) in Geneva, Switzerland; and a deputy of the National Assembly of People's Power, Cuba's Congress. He is a former university professor and former official of the Cuban National Union of Health Care Workers.

Also on the U.S. tour were Olga Rosa Gomez Cortes, former primary, middle and high school teacher; general secretary, National Union of Cultural Workers; member, CTC National Secretariat; deputy, National Assembly of People's Power; and

Manuel Montero Bistilleiro, general mechanic; worked as a machinist until 1978. Former general secretary, Machinists Union; former secretary, Union Bureau of the National Union of Sports Industry Workers; chief of relations with the Americas for CTC International Relations Department.
