Just another AFL-CIA Whitewash

This resolution for the AFL-CIO to "come clean" about what is euphemistically called its "foreign relations activities" during the Cold War is an absolute FRAUD.

The resolution is based upon a fundamental LIE that the AFL-CIO has somehow has changed its way and is no longer engaged in the CIA-style dirty tricks and political destablization campaigns that it engaged in during the Cold War--or at least, under the new Sweeney Regime, the "current AFL-CIO leadership was cut from a different cloth."

This is bullshit.

The real agenda behind this Come Clean Resolution is similar to the CIA's recent decision to "come clean" about its role in working with Nazi war criminals after WWII or its role in overthrowing the democratically elected president of Chile, Augusto Pinochet: a cynical Whitewash.

The AFL-CIO's decision to "come clean" in particular is motivated by a desire to burnish one's *present* image and win the trust of unions around the world--and hence more effectively gain consent to its disguised protectionist agenda (better known as Fair Trade) and even facilitate possible subversion campaigns in the FUTURE.

This motivation is alluded to in the resolution, if you read between the lines of its rhetoric:

"The language of the approved resolution applauds the 'progressive new policies of the AFL-CIO in global affairs,' but asserts that the labor federation's track record over the past quarter century continues to breed fear and suspicion among labor activists in other countries. To increase its credibility in the eyes of workers abroad, and in the United States, the resolution calls for action to be taken 'to clear the air in affirmation of an AFL-CIO policy of genuine global labor solidarity...'"

Finally, for those liberal and "Left" apologists of the AFL-CIO out there, you should ask the union what kind of progressive new policies are being implemented.
